Don't Do That. It Won't Change Anything!!-150,157

Don't Do That.  It Won't Change Anything!!

Okay, so we all should know that yelling at the weatherman won't change the weather.  If you don't like heat, cold, rain or snow, you have no place to go on Earth and there is nobody on the planet that can change it.  It's almost like the old saying goes...Don't shoot the messenger!  Don't do that.  It won't change anything.
Mail Box Snow Man

Speaking of shooting the messenger, sometimes being the messenger can get you into trouble.  "Your child did this to my child."  "Your husband is cheating on you."  "You know that she talks about you behind your back, right?"  See what I mean?  You may be the one who gets shot instead of the child, the husband or the backstabbing friend.  Someone might come back to you with "Well, what did your child do to my child to make my child do that to your child?" or "How do you know that my husband is cheating on me?  Did you see it with your own two eyes?" or "Have you heard that friend talk about me?  What did you say when she said that about me?  Did you stick up for me?  What did she say then?"  Don't do that.  It won't change anything.
Inspiration

So, the teenager that is working the drive thru didn't give you your sandwich without pickles.  What do you do?  Do you go inside and berate him or her for putting pickles on your hamburger?  Do you drive back around in the drive thru line and make the teen give you another burger without pickles?  Do you ask for the manager?  Don't do that.  It won't change anything.

Your Facebook friend who you haven't seen in over 25 years posts something about politics that you don't agree with.  What do you do?  Do you "unfriend" that person?  Do you start an argument with that person on their Facebook page?  Do you state your opinion and try to lead this idiot over to your way of thinking because, clearly, they are uninformed or uneducated about what they are saying?  Don't do that.  It won't change anything.
If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes politics

What about if you hear that someone, who you think is a good friend, has been talking about you behind your back?  Do you confront them with what you have heard?  Do you rat out your friend who told you this information?  Do you totally ignore this person the next time that you see them?  Do you start talking about them all over town?  Don't do that.  It won't change anything.
Hurt people, hurt people. That's how pain patterns get passed on, generation after generation after generation. Break the chain today. Meet anger with sympathy, contempt with compassion and cruelty with kindness. Greet grimaces with smiles. Forgive and forget about finding fault. Love is the weapon of the future. ~Yehuda Berg :)

The older I get, the more I think about this.  I think back to when I was young and I remember being short tempered and quick to react to a situation.  I have learned to sleep on it for one night.  If it still bothers me in the morning, maybe I should consider doing something.  99 times out of 100, I don't lose any sleep over things that don't matter in my life and with every new day, I have a choice to be happy or to be miserable.  I can choose to live in the past or live for the future, without forgetting to live today.  In the grand scheme of life, does it really matter if I had pickle juice on my hamburger bun?  Does it matter what other people's children do?  Does it matter what someone else thinks of me?  No.  If my husband ever dared to cheat on me, that would be his choice and he would have to live with the consequences just as I would have to live with the consequences of an affair that I dared to have.  The weatherman isn't in charge of the weather and if my Facebook friend has a differing opinion than I do regarding politics, I just keep scrolling.  Is it really worth losing a friend over an opinion?  Don't do that.  It won't change anything.

Lesson #15,071-Awkward Moments

Awkward moments happen to us all.  Some more than others.  Some on the world's stage and some only a couple of people know about.  Ya know?  Like when you see someone who looks like they are waving at you and you aren't sure if they are waving at you so you give one of those awkward waves.  Then you look around and see her friend coming up behind you.  Yeah, we all have done that! AWKWARD!!
Awkward ...
That awkward moment when you run straight into someone in Target who you cannot avoid talking to.  You came around the corner and your cart almost slammed right into theirs and you see who it is in 0.00001 of a second and you don't have time to duck into the hamster supply aisle. You may even be "friends" with this person on Facebook, Instagram, MySpace, and Linkedin but you may hate that person and here you are stuck in the feminine hygiene aisle with her and you have to quickly choose your poison.  Do you look at this person and smile and be cordial or do you look at her and pretend that you don't even recognize them?  Or you could just go all out and punch her in the face because of her being rude to you in 1989, or was it because she dated your ex, or was it because you heard that she may have said something about you but you aren't really sure?  What to do?  What to do?  AWKWARD!!
Awkward!
That awkward moment when you realize that you are really close to someone who has major life beliefs that differ from yours and you had no idea.  Maybe when you are out with friends getting ready to eat lunch, you bow your heads and start to say a prayer and your friend doesn't close their eyes or bow their head.  You figure it out really quick but what do you do?  If you are me and you don't care one bit about imposing your beliefs on others, you just say your prayer and eat and don't call attention to it.  Or you are sitting there with a group of friends and someone says something about the president in mixed company. And by mixed company, I mean Democrats and Republicans.  You are thinking "Oh crap! What am I going to say?".  You know that you want to say something one way or the other but you aren't sure what to say.  You may do what I do and text the person who is putting their foot in their mouth and just say "Stop talking!!!" or you may just sit back and watch the show!! AWKWARD!!
Awkward...
That awkward moment when your husband comes in and asks "What's for dinner?" and you haven't even thought about it.  Or when he walks in the house and says "How was your day?  What did you do today?" and all you can think of is that 4 hour nap that you took and how the beds aren't even made yet and you don't want him to go upstairs yet so you can quickly make the beds so you send him to take out the trash and you bolt upstairs to do the quick sweep before he misses you!  Oh, you've never done that one?  Well, I never claimed to be Martha Stewart and my beds may not be done before 7:00PM.  AWKWARD!!
awkward!
There are so many awkward moments in life but the worst is when you have made a serious social faux pas.  Such as: Cursing in church, in a parent-teacher conference or when you have someone else's child in your car.  Going to a party where "No Gifts" were on the invitation and you are the only one who doesn't bring a gift.  The world's worst, most awkward moment that has ever been recorded in human history and most people have done it at least once.  That is the dreaded question "So when is your baby due?" and the response is "Oh, I'm not pregnant" and you just want to pass out, drop dead or get called away immediately by the CIA on a secret mission to Siberia.  I have been on both ends of that question and I remember how I felt.  That is the definition of AWKWARD!!!

Life Lesson #15,049-Politics Explained

So there is some sort of election tomorrow.  Have y'all heard about it?  Lots of people running for judges, clerks of court, school boards, city council, county commissioners, governors, senators, house of representatives and even president and vice president.  Are these people nuts?  Who wants to be in charge of this mess?  No matter what you do, you will make half of the people mad.  If you are a democrat or a republican, you already don't have 1/2 the vote.  So, 1/2 the people aren't going to like you or listen to anything that you have to say just because they don't like your political party.

politics

Seriously, who really wants to be in charge of this country?  You must be crazy!! I mean, that's like saying that you want to move into a house that has burned down.  Sure, sign me up for that!!  Actually the house is still on fire!! And guess what??  Everyone wants credit for calling the fire department, getting the fire trucks there, pulling out the water hoses, turning on the water and putting the fire out.  But then there is red tape to cut through before you can pick up the phone and speak to the 911 operator.  It must be approved by 2 different sides that hate one another.  Then we must pick a firehouse to respond. This one is closer but this one has done more for the city than the other one.  This one has a bigger truck that holds more water but the other one has a ladder truck.  Let's put that up for discussion then award the contract to this firehouse.  The discussion is deadlocked while the house is still burning down.  The residents are screaming "The house is on fire and now it is spreading" but the two sides continue to fight.  Honestly!! Who wants this job?

House on fire

Why do we call it a "Political Party"?  That is crap!  I went and voted last week and nobody was partying!! There was no wine, BBQ, chips & salsa, cake or even a balloon.  I did, however, get a sticker when I walked out of the building.  Gee thanks!! A glass of Moscato would have better!!  Of course, if they were passing out wine, I am sure it would have had to have been wine approved by all political parties, the environmentalists, the labor unions and the ABC Board.  I think I will just buy my own because that wine would probably taste like crap if all sides agreed on it!!

 Pink Poodle Party

So I promised you in my title that your life lesson today would explain politics. Here goes...Ummm. Uhhh.  Hmmm.  Oooh.  Yeah.  Look, I can't explain it.  Just go and vote.  Educate yourself on all the candidates and what they are for and against.  Pray for our country and our leaders.  That's all we can do.
